GENERAL QUESTIONS

At Castellini Care most insurance plans are accepted. Please call either of our offices in Asbury Park and Red Bank, and we will check your health benefits and how they may apply to our services.

Generally, acupuncture does not hurt. Some people feel the needles as they go in, and some people feel nothing. Acupuncture needles are solid needles, not hollow like hypodermic needles, and they are much, much thinner – about the diameter of a thick human hair.

Depending on the nature and extent of the specific back problem, a few visits to the chiropractor should help the patient feel noticeably better.

As a general rule, within 1 to 4 weeks of starting a chiropractic treatment program for non-complex musculoskeletal conditions, the patient should typically feel a 40% to 80% reduction in pain. The frequency of visits to the chiropractor should decrease as the patient’s pain and function improve.

At Castellini Care we do everything in our power to help our patients feel better as fast as possible with as few chiropractic treatments as necessary, ultimately reducing care to an as-needed follow-up plan. We also give advice on how to avoid future problems by evaluating lifestyle activities, ergonomics, posture, orthotics, and/or diet.

Because of natural suction, there is a pulling sensation at the skin and muscle layer that results in a tight feeling under the cups. The first few minutes can be rather intense, but most patients enjoy the endorphin rush that comes with cupping.

Generally, cupping is combined with acupuncture in one treatment, but it can also be used alone. The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system (which makes it an excellent treatment for high blood pressure).

If you have pain or discomfort that limits your daily activities like taking off a shirt overhead, fastening your bra, walking up and down stairs or getting in and out of the car, you may benefit from a physical therapy consultation. If you have nagging pain that prevents you from doing activities you enjoy, we can help you determine the underlying cause for your pain, and help you get on the road to recovery. If you have an acute injury, such as an ankle sprain, neck or back pain, or painful shoulder, we can help you through early evaluation and treatment before your injury becomes a chronic problem.
